Different Types Of Acne Scars
Most people have to deal with acne in their
lives. When those nasty pimples appear on someone's face that
person often feels bad about it. But it may even get worse when
the acne itself disappears but some
nasty acne scars are left. This becomes a
lifelong reminder of acne breakouts. There are various forms of
scars and it's good to know how to prevent them.
The least severe are pigmentation scars. They
pop up as an inflamed area making the skin reddened. In most
cases they fade over time. It depends on the severity of the
acne how bad pigmentation scars can become. It seems odd but
many people feel relieved even when their skin is damaged by
these scars because the acne itself is gone. Not popping a
pimple is the best way to avoid them.
A more severe form of acne scars are ice pick
scars because they often result in carves. When you meet
someone with a cragged, rough skin that person most likely has
suffered from acne that resulted in scars. They are also much
harder to treat than pigmentation scars. The best treatment is
microdermabrasion and chemical peels. When nothing helps the
final and radical solution is surgery. This operation removes
the tissue from the scar. The wound is then closed with skin
from other parts of the body. Another procedure is to lift the
scar tissue away from the unscarred tissue. The result is that
scar seems to have faded.
A third form of acne scars are hypertrophic
scars. They literally grow above the skin as a result of
buildup of collagen in the skin. As a reaction of an injury
like cystic acne the body produces collagen. This builds up to
end as a smooth irregular shaped hypertrophic scar. Like
pigmentation scars they can fade over time. They appear often
with people of the same family.
Because acne scars are often permanent and thus
very difficult to remove, the best treatment is to avoid them
in the first place. Proper skin care and smart handling of acne
is the way to go.
